3.0: Supporting Creative Development

Today marks an exciting step for us at Frame Set. Frame Set began as a tool to help you find inspiration, primarily through our powerful search. Search was the first way we supported your creative process. Frame Set 3.0 builds on this foundation as we expand our focus to help you with the wider journey of creative development and pre-production. Our new brand is a first indicator towards this goal.
While the product itself will feel familiar for now – you can still search and save to Sets as before – this release lays the groundwork for new ways we'll support you. We have lots planned throughout the year, all focused on helping you move from having an idea to being ready to bring it to life. Finding specific reference frames and motions through search remains very important to us, but we are committed to helping you with tools for wider creative development as well.
Refining Your Search: Making Search a Little Better
Search is fundamental to how you use Frame Set, and your feedback has guided these improvements in 3.0.
We're excited to introduce Short Film as a new category you can now search within. We've seen great short films submitted to us over the last year and are ready to make them searchable today. We plan to keep adding more titles here.
We know searching with Motions has been super helpful for finding unique camera movements or transitions, so we've added even more motions to the library with this update. We expect to see this continue to grow throughout the year.
We've also made subtle but helpful tweaks based on feedback about the search page. Like getting a full-screen view with just one click, or making it even easier to download a full-resolution frame directly. You'll spot a few other small changes around the application too. Refining search, based on what you need, remains a high priority for us.
The Feature Page: Showcasing Great Work & Insights
Meet our new Feature Page – a place for discovering curated work and the insights behind it. Think high-quality music videos, commercials, and short films, refreshed regularly. We aim for daily features when possible, always at least a couple each week.
This page is also about understanding the creative process. The new Commentary section allows you to hear directly from the directors, DPs, editors, colorists, and teams behind the projects. Learn about their process, specific challenges, and creative choices.
Have a project you think we should feature, or know of a creative whose insights you'd value? Please send it our way. Use the in-app messenger or reach out via Instagram DMs – whichever works best for you. We look forward to building this resource with you.
Introducing Workspaces: Your Collaborative Space.
Listening to feedback, we know collaborating easily on Sets is important. Frame Set 3.0 introduces Projects, starting with a simple way to collaborate on your sets.
This is the foundational step for adding more creative development tools directly into your workflow under the Projects umbrella later on.
For now, it means you can easily create your own workspace and invite anyone you're collaborating with to join. Jumping into their workspace to see, add to, or rearrange their sets is just as easy. It's all designed to make collaborating on your film projects smoother.
We're excited about laying this foundation and seeing how you use it to work together. Definitely give collaborating a try.
What's Next
Frame Set 3.0 is a step in our journey to support your entire creative process. It's about more than frames; it's about helping you build your vision and get ready to create.
As always, we built this with you in mind, guided by your input and needs. We're already working on what's next and plan to share more features designed specifically to help you create throughout the year.
Explore the new features, try collaborating, and let us know what you think. Your input helps us make Frame Set a better tool for filmmakers. If you have any questions, please ask.
Sincerely,
Caleb Farmer Founder & CEO, Frame Set
